R

Rail

  1. The metal track on which trains run.
  2. Two rails laid as a track can also be known as a rail.
  3. The entire system of tracks, stations, trains, etc.
  4. A bar or series of bars fixed on supports or attached to a wall or ceiling, used to hang things on.

RailCom®

RailCom®is a system of bidirectional communication between the command station and the decoder

RCD

A residual-current device (RCD), residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB) or ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is an electrical safety device, that interrupts an electrical circuit. The device's purpose is to reduce the severity of injury caused by an electric shock.

Relay

A relay is an electrically operated switch. A contactor is a heavy-duty relay, used for switching items requiring high current or voltage. Both allow a low current or voltage to switch a higher one.

Consisting of a set of input terminals, and a set of operating terminals. It is available in many configurations such as SPDT or DPDT.

Reset

  1. Clearance of a previous value by overwriting with a pre-stored value or reverting to zero.
  2. The act of reverting a decoder or other device to its factory pre-set defaults.

Resistance

Electrical resistance, is a measure of its opposition to the flow of electric current. It is usually measured in ohms (Ω). Its symbol is 'R'.

Resistivity

A quantity that is proportional to an object's resistance and cross-sectional area, and inversely proportional to the object's length.

Resistor

An electrical component that limits or regulates the flow of electrical current in a circuit.

RJ-11

The registered jack 11 (RJ11) is a type of connector commonly used for telephone cables. It has four or six pins and is used to connect phones, modems, and other telecommunication devices to a wall jack or other phone line.
