Jack

A jack is a female connector that receives a plug and usually has holes or sockets that align with the pins of the plug to establish a connection.


Jack plug

A plug is a male connector that is designed to be inserted into a jack. Typically, it will consist of one or more pins or prongs that make contact with the corresponding contacts in a jack.
