Glossary of terms

The farad (symbol: F) is the unit of electrical capacitance, which is a measure of the amount of stored electrical charge.

Also known as a "lunar indicator", "feather", or "horn". It is a colour-light junction indicator. Formed as a row of five white lights, angled to the left or right, depending on the route direction it is indicating.

A chemical cleaning agent used in the soldering process.

Frequency is how often something occurs, or how often a wave occurs. The frequency of a wave is the number of waves that pass a point in a certain period of time.

1. Used, in DCC terms, describes a physical or audible action.
2. In general usage, it is an operation or activity.

This type of decoder provides function outputs to a model, but does not include sound, or a motor drive and associated control circuitry.

A function key is found on a throttle or command station, which is mapped to an output of a decoder
